THE PERSON BEHIND THE SAWDUST
I'm Alex. I started DefiantlyDrafted because I kept finding good wood headed for the trash, and I couldn't let it go. So I started saving it. Now most of what I make starts as someone else's leftovers: offcuts, salvaged lumber, the stump nobody wanted to deal with.
By day I work in tech. The rest of the time I'm in the shop.
The work reflects what I care about. Some of it is useful, some of it is decorative, and some of it says something (like the wooden Pride flag I carved and hand-painted). I'd rather make one thing that means something than fifty that don't.
Waffles
General Manager and Safety Coordinator
Waffles supervises every project that comes through the shop and keeps things on schedule. The bigger part of her job is safety, which mostly means making sure Alex remembers their safety glasses and keeps all ten fingers. That alone is a full-time job.
